Pool construction in Chandler

South Chandler is new-pool territory. Lots in Ocotillo, Fulton Ranch and the communities off Chandler Heights Road are wide enough for a geometric pool with a raised spa and a full outdoor kitchen, and the lakeside lots in Ocotillo put water behind the water, which is a drone frame nobody else in the East Valley can offer. North of Chandler Boulevard and around downtown the yards are older and the pools are too: 1980s and 1990s builds getting new plaster, new tile, a spa added, a cool-deck surface replaced with travertine or pavers, an equipment pad rebuilt.

A new Chandler pool runs roughly two to three months from dig to plaster, longer in monsoon season. A remodel is faster, often a few weeks from drain to refill, which means the before has to be shot before the drain truck arrives. HOAs in south Chandler are particular about wall heights and equipment screening; the older neighborhoods mostly are not, but access through a 1980s side yard is tight and the excavator often comes over the wall. We ask for a gate code or a site contact with every address.

A remodel is a before and after by definition. The only question is whether anyone photographed the before.

Twilight and the drone

On a new build the drone flies every visit, and on a lakeside lot it is the whole reason to come. On a remodel we shoot the before from fixed positions, the same corner, the same height, the same hour, and return to them when the pool is refilled, so the pair lines up without explanation. The twilight set is scheduled for the finished pool with the water on and the lights on, and on a remodel it is the frame that shows the new tile and the new light color at once.

What a pool project produces

Shell and steel on a new build, then the finished pool in daylight and at twilight, with aerials from every visit and a 60 to 90 second film. A remodel produces the same set with the drained, chipped shell in place of the dig. These frames are from East Valley and north Valley builds; your Chandler jobs get the same set.

  • Dig and layout. The transformation baseline, from the ground and the air.
  • Steel and gunite. The day the shape appears, with the crew in frame.
  • Tile, coping, decking. The detail a homeowner cannot judge from across the yard.
  • Finished, at the right hour. Daylight for the website, twilight for everything else.
  • The film. 60 to 90 seconds cut from the visits we already made.

Flying over pools in Chandler

Central and south Chandler, including Ocotillo and the neighborhoods around Chandler Municipal Airport, sit under that airport's airspace, so pools there get an FAA authorization filed before the visit. That is paperwork, not a no, and over a pool the drone works low enough that the approved ceiling rarely matters. North Chandler and downtown are checked address by address. We check the airspace for every address and file authorization where it is needed. The lakeside lots in Ocotillo and Fulton Ranch are worth the paperwork every time. More on working in the city is on our Chandler page.

Questions from Chandler pool builders

Is there a travel fee for Chandler pools?

No. There is no travel fee anywhere in the Phoenix metro, so none on a content day, a project or a plan visit, and most Chandler addresses are fifteen to twenty minutes from our Gilbert office.

Can you fly over a pool in Ocotillo?

Yes. Ocotillo is under Chandler Municipal's controlled airspace, so we file an authorization a few days ahead and fly at the approved ceiling. The lake behind the pool is the frame worth having, and it needs the drone.

How quickly can you shoot a remodel before we drain it?

Usually within a week of booking, and we prioritize a before that has a drain date. Send the address and the date; if it is tight, same or next business day is available for $150 on top of the visit.

Do remodels get the same film as a new build?

Yes. The 60 to 90 second film is cut from the visits we made, so a two-visit remodel produces a before and after film the same way a new build does. The drained shell is the opening shot.
