Pool construction in Mesa

Mesa is three pool markets at once. In Eastmark and the neighborhoods around Gateway, pools go into brand-new yards that are bare dirt the day the house closes, with the landscape often following the pool by a month or two; the Katmai Residence film on our Mesa page shows that sequence from the landscape side. Toward Las Sendas and Red Mountain, lots sit on a grade with a view east, and pools there are built with raised beams, spillways and the view in mind. In central and west Mesa the lots are large and flat and the pools date from the 1970s and 1980s, so the work is remodel: replaster, new tile, a spa added, a diving board removed, a deck replaced.

Dig to plaster on a new Mesa pool runs roughly two to three months, with gunite and plaster days moving around in monsoon season. New communities in southeast Mesa have construction gates and HOA rules on walls and equipment; the older neighborhoods often have alley access that makes excavation simpler. One half day in Mesa can cover a dig in Eastmark, a tile crew in Las Sendas and a remodel near Dobson Ranch, because the city is wide but the freeways are good.

An Eastmark homeowner has a dirt yard and a stack of pool flyers that all show a pool somewhere else.

Twilight and the drone

The drone flies on every Mesa visit. In Eastmark the overhead shows the finished pool beside three dirt yards, which is the next three jobs. On a Las Sendas lot the frame is the oblique with the pool in the foreground and the mountains behind it, and that is a dusk shot. The twilight set is scheduled for the finished pool with the water on and the lights on, and on a view lot we start it earlier to catch the mountains before they go dark.

What a pool project produces

Shell and steel, the finished pool in daylight, the finished pool at twilight, aerials from every visit and a 60 to 90 second film cut from all of them. These frames are from East Valley and north Valley builds; your Mesa pools get the same set, with the mountains in frame where the lot allows.

  • Dig and layout. The transformation baseline, from the ground and the air.
  • Steel and gunite. The day the shape appears, with the crew in frame.
  • Tile, coping, decking. The detail a homeowner cannot judge from across the yard.
  • Finished, at the right hour. Daylight for the website, twilight for everything else.
  • The film. 60 to 90 seconds cut from the visits we already made.

Flying over pools in Mesa

Mesa has two airports to plan around. Falcon Field covers northeast Mesa, including the neighborhoods north of McKellips toward Las Sendas, and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway covers the southeast, including Eastmark. Both are controlled airspace where we file an FAA authorization before the visit, and over a pool the drone works low enough that the approved ceiling rarely limits the frames. Central and west Mesa are checked address by address. We check the airspace for every address and file authorization where it is needed. More on working in the city is on our Mesa page.

Questions from Mesa pool builders

Is there a travel fee for Mesa pools?

No. There is no travel fee anywhere in the Phoenix metro, Mesa included. Eastmark is about twenty minutes from our office and west Mesa about thirty.

Can you fly over a pool in Eastmark?

Yes. Eastmark is under Gateway's controlled airspace, so we file an authorization a few days ahead and fly at the approved ceiling. The overhead of a finished pool beside the dirt yards next door is the frame that brings the neighbors.

How soon can you be on a Mesa dig?

Usually within a week of booking. Mesa fits into any East Valley day. If you have a gunite day you want covered, tell us the date and we build the route around it; same or next business day is $150 on top of the visit.

Our pools finish before the landscaper starts. When is the after?

Shoot both. The finished pool in a dirt yard is a real after for the pool company, and on a plan we return when the landscape is in. The film can end on either, and the second version is the one homeowners share.
