Pool builder photography and video in Scottsdale.

Scottsdale pools are resort pools: raised spas, fire features, negative edges and outdoor kitchens behind custom homes in the north, and remodeled 1970s yards in the south. Scottsdale is routed into one north-side day a week, with no travel fee.

Pool construction in Scottsdale

North of the 101 the lots are half an acre or more, the houses are custom and the pools are designed with the house: geometric shapes, raised spas with spillways, fire bowls, baja shelves, swim-up bars and outdoor kitchens that run the length of the patio, with the McDowells or Pinnacle Peak behind them. Several of the twilight pool photos on this site, the fire feature and lit steps, the outdoor kitchen beside the water, the lit deck jets, were shot in Scottsdale backyards. South of the 101, around McCormick Ranch, Old Town and the Airpark, yards are smaller and the work is remodel: a 1970s kidney pool rebuilt as a rectangle, a spa added, a deck replaced with travertine.

A custom Scottsdale pool runs longer than an East Valley production pool, often three to five months from dig to plaster, because the tile, stone and water-feature work takes time and because it is usually built alongside the house or a major remodel. Many north Scottsdale communities are guard-gated, so visits are cleared with the builder ahead of time. Because Scottsdale is forty-five minutes to an hour from Gilbert, a visit is routed with your other north-side addresses and planned to end at dusk.

A Scottsdale pool is sold at dusk, with the water lit and the mountains going purple behind it.

Twilight and the drone

Twilight is not an add-on here; it is the shot. We schedule the finished visit to end in the thirty-minute window after sunset, with the fire features lit, the spa spilling and the deck cleared, and the drone takes the oblique with the mountains behind the water while the ground camera works the detail. During the build the drone shows the pool and the house taking shape together, which matters on a lot this size, and tile, stone and coping detail carry the ground set because that is what a Scottsdale homeowner is paying for.

What a pool project produces

Shell and steel, the finished pool in daylight, the finished pool at twilight, aerials from every visit and a 60 to 90 second film. Two of these frames are Scottsdale backyards; the twilight set is the standard finish on every Scottsdale pool we document.

  • Dig and layout. The transformation baseline, from the ground and the air.
  • Steel and gunite. The day the shape appears, with the crew in frame.
  • Tile, coping, decking. The detail a homeowner cannot judge from across the yard.
  • Finished, at the right hour. Daylight for the website, twilight for everything else.
  • The film. 60 to 90 seconds cut from the visits we already made.

Flying over pools in Scottsdale

Scottsdale Airport covers the Airpark and Kierland, so pools there and in the neighborhoods around them get an FAA authorization filed before the visit, often with a lower ceiling that still allows the low, close frames a pool needs. Much of North Scottsdale toward Pinnacle Peak and Troon is open, and we fly without extra paperwork there. Old Town and south Scottsdale are checked address by address. We check the airspace for every address and file authorization where it is needed. More on working in the city is on our Scottsdale page.

Questions from Scottsdale pool builders

Is there a travel fee for Scottsdale pools?

No. There is no travel charge anywhere in the Phoenix metro, Scottsdale included. We route the north and central Valley into one day a week, so your Scottsdale jobs are covered on the same trip.

Can you fly over a pool near the Airpark or Kierland?

Yes. Those areas are under Scottsdale Airport's controlled airspace, so we file an authorization ahead and fly at the approved ceiling. Pinnacle Peak, Troon and most of North Scottsdale are open airspace.

How fast can you be on a North Scottsdale site?

Usually within a week, on the next north-side day. For a gunite day or a plaster and fill you want covered, send the date and we build the route around it. Same or next business day is possible at $150 but is not the default at this distance.

Our clients are private. Can you shoot without showing the house or the street?

Yes. We frame to the pool and the yard, keep house numbers and the street out of the set, and never publish an address. Permission is handled as a line in your construction agreement, and we can supply the language.

Get a fixed price for your sites in Scottsdale.

Send your trade, the site addresses and how often you want us out. Marcus replies within one business day with a fixed price or a fifteen minute call. No contract, and the $900 first visit credits toward any plan.
